On the 360 version I built an enchanted forest path through the nether to my castle in the sky. You couldn't even tell you were in the nether. There was even a river you had to cross. All I need is a butt load of cobble, black wool, saplings (mostly oak), bones (for bone meal), some dirt of course, a bit of sand for the river bed, and a pickaxe with silk touch because there is only one way to get water in the nether. Even better if I get silk touch on a shovel and collect some grass. Oh, flint and steel, at least two separate nether portals meticulously linked using the 8:1 conversion (was 3:1 on the xbox), and some mossy cobble and glowstone just for affect. Too bad I don't still have my friend's xbox or I'd give you a screen shot. I guess most people would have just used a waterfall entrance, but I'm not most people.

...a pickaxe with silk touch because there is only one way to get water in the nether... You have learned since posting this that melting ice in the nether was patched, right? The only way to have water in the nether without world editors now is to place actual source blocks (id 08). The thing you built sounds really awesome, by the way.
