I know I'm going to get alot of heat for this, but bear with me here.
First of all, the fact that you don't drop your items or XP when you die takes away alot of the fun of the survival aspect of the game. You don't need to worry about dying, and if you do die, it's no big deal because all you have to do is /back and you're right back to your death point.
Second of all, it almost completely takes away the usefulness of armor, since it doesn't matter if you die. I, myself don't wear armor, and don't see alot of other people wearing armor because there isn't a point to it. In addition to taking away the usefulness of armor, diamonds (and other ores) aren't as useful because you don't need to use them to make or repair your armor. I have stacks of diamonds because I have nothing but tools to make out of them.
I believe this really could help the server in a few ways.
Firstly, it could help boost the economy. More people will be buying diamonds (or other ores) to make armor. (I know my shop doesn't really sell alot of diamonds, I'm not sure about the rest.)
Secondly, it would it would give more people an incentive to go mining, and, in the process, find more ores to sell to spawn or other people. I spend alot of time mining, and I really enjoy it.
Now I know this would cause some problems with people killing other people and taking their items, causing people to complain to the staff and demanding their items back, only to be outraged when they don't get them back. I think people would get used to it and spend more time beefing up their equipment and building cool bases to keep people out.
I apologize for the wall of text, but I feel it was necessary to get my point across. Please let me know what you think about the idea, and if you disagree, please explain why and don't just immediately throw out the idea and say "No because I'll lose my items." Give it some thought. Maybe we could have a trial of it and see how people like it.
